This year, a remarkable group of 40 active and retired colleagues joined the tour. Even before the event, the weather apps didn’t predict anything positive. A shower or two was definitely on the forecast. However, the group didn’t let that affect their mood. At the starting point at MINDA in Minden in Hans-Böckler-Street, the focus was above all on the excitement of meeting each other again and the opportunity to spend a day together.

The organizers had planned a scenic Weser bike tour along both banks of the river for this year. The route first followed the canal and then continued toward the river Weser to the “Schiffmühle” restaurant. There, the group had time for a well-deserved meal. With a direct view of the water, it was a pleasure to relax under the umbrellas. Everyone was eagerly looking forward to the beautiful rest of the ride.

But the weather had other plans. Right after lunch, a heavy rain shower came down. Since the forecast offered little hope of dry riding conditions and there were hardly any places to take shelter along the planned route, the group had to make a quick change of plans.

Part of the group settled comfortably in the sheltered beer garden and waited for a rain break. The others bravely got back on their bikes and made the wet trip back to MINDA, where everyone gathered in the assembly hall for a well-earned beer and a relaxed finish to the Silver Tour.

Although the cycling distance turned out to be shorter than originally planned, the true purpose of the Silver Tour remained unchanged: sharing memories, enjoying good conversations, and strengthening the bonds between colleagues.

And the planned route? It’ll get a second chance. The tour is set to be repeated in 2027. Hopefully, by then, we’ll have more kilometers on the clock and significantly less rain!
